The Lemming Effect
January 29, 2010 10:43 AM PST
So what's with the US legacy airlines? They seem to do nothing that does not get copied overnight. There are exceptions - Continental Airlines and its meal service - scant, but there. The US legacy airlines cannot compete on price because the LCCs control this. Nowhere else do airlines not compete like they do in the US. Discussing this issue are CAPA's Ron Kuhlman and Kathryn Creedy who have written and continue to write about this matter. The behavior of the US legacy airlines is truly a remarkable thing to watch. Fascinating as it is, it remains hard to figure out. |
